American Well partners with Samsung Electronics for mobile telehealth

As part of the initial phase of the partnership, American Well partners and other providers and payers will have the opportunity to offer their services to Samsung consumers on their devices.

American Well has announced a new partnership with Samsung Electronics for the two companies to develop new telehealth services for providers, health systems, payers and employers.

American Well serves more than 200 health systems and health plans nationwide including Anthem, Cleveland Clinic and New York-Presbyterian. Samsung leverages its healthcare expertise with technology designed to help medical professionals improve care and outcomes.

As part of the initial phase of the partnership, which the vendors announced at HIMSS17, American Well partners and other providers and payers will have the opportunity to offer their services to Samsung consumers on their devices.

“Mobile technology offers the promise to empower consumers and simplify how healthcare is delivered,” said Harry Kim, Samsung mobile health business lead. “Our partnership with American Well is an exciting opportunity to innovate new experiences that improve health and business outcomes.”

The partnership with Samsung will bring a new level of consumer reach, accessibility and ease of use to the healthcare industry, said Ido Schoenberg, MD, chairman of American Well.

“This collaboration is the next major step in the evolution of integrated care delivery and will have a sweeping impact on the whole healthcare ecosystem – providers, payers and patients included,” Schoenberg said.

Healthcare executives included in the initial development phase of the partnership have expressed support for the partnership, the vendors said.

“Over the last year, New York-Presbyterian has seen an outpouring of positive feedback from both patients and physicians on our digital health initiatives,” said Steven J. Corwin, MD, president and CEO of New York-Presbyterian.
